Wolves’ fans are being encouraged to put their ‘best foot forward’ and take part in a challenge to support local good causes, including the club’s Former Players’ Association.

Best Foot Forward is a community initiative, devised and organised by the Rotary Club of the City of Wolverhampton, which is staged annually on the last Saturday in June at WV Active, Aldersley, to raise funds for charities.

The event is supported by many different patrons, ensuring the chosen charities receive a certain amount which can then be increased by supporters completing laps of the racetrack at Aldersley, whether by running, walking or jogging.

This year’s chosen charities, along with the Rotary Club’s own Wolverhampton Charitable Trust, are the Wolverhampton Coronary Aftercare Support Group, and Sponsored Breaks.

But individuals can also choose to take part and raise funds for their own charities, and this is where the appeal from Wolves FPA comes in.

Former Wolves striker Mel Eves is both a Rotarian and a member of Wolves’ FPA committee, and will once again be taking part this Saturday, June 27th

“This is a great annual event for the people of Wolverhampton delivered by the Rotary Club which offers the opportunity to come together and raise funds for local good causes,” says Mel.

“Aside from the funds which support the event’s charities, people can also take part by getting their own sponsorship for their chosen cause.

“Participants can spend as long or as little as they want at the event, and depart and come back whenever needed during the day, as well as being able to complete the laps at their own pace.

“It would be great to have a few people signing up and supporting Wolves’ FPA, enjoying the chance to take part in a bit of exercise in a social environment whilst also raising funds.”

Wolves’ FPA now operate with several different objectives, from looking after the welfare of former players to getting involved in events and raising money for different charities.

Any funds raised from participants at Best Foot Forward will be added to those raised from the Annual Golf Day and distributed by the FPA to local charities.

Anyone interested in taking part should email Wolvesfpa@outlook.com .  There is an entry fee of £8 to cover the administration fee for the tag which measures the laps covered.

After that participants can direct people to the fundraising page set up by Wolves fan and event host Jason Guy, by clicking here.

Thank you.
