Wolves Former Players Association are delighted to be entering into a partnership with Wolverhampton’s historic Grand Theatre which will lead to mutual support between the two organisations.
The Grand Theatre have become one of the sponsors of the FPA’s website, whilst the club’s former players will support the theatre by attending promotional and community events.
The partnership was launched with FPA Chairman John Richards, Vice Chairman Steve Daley and administration manager Richard Green visiting one of the Theatre’s Memory Café sessions, for people with dementia and their loved ones.
“We are delighted to be launching this partnership with the Grand Theatre, such an historic and well-established venue in Wolverhampton, and an iconic feature of the city,” said John.
“As players, we have enjoyed visiting the theatre to enjoy so many different performances down the years, and we had another great night last year at the 1974 League Cup Final anniversary event hosted by Johnny Phillips.
“The Theatre’s sponsorship of the website will help contribute to ensuring we can continue to spread the word in terms of our work with former players and supporting local charities and, in return, we are looking forward to helping the Theatre continue to raise awareness of their own activities.
“As well as the excellent programme of shows that people enjoy, the Theatre is also a charity in its own right, using creativity, education and the arts to help benefit the community.
“The Memory Café is just one of the many fantastic initiatives which they deliver, such a worthwhile project which we were really pleased to visit and will no doubt be involved with more as the partnership develops.”

Nadia Abdelaal, Outreach Manager – Access & Community with the Grand Theatre, said: “It was an honour to have these local legends attend the Memory Café.
“For many of our Memory Café friends, it allowed them to reminisce on memories of those players in their heyday.
“Having members of the Wolves Former Players Association attend our Outreach initiatives helps us to highlight the importance of how two major Wolverhampton organisations can work together to benefit the local community.
“As a theatre, we cannot wait to see how our partnership with the Wolves FPA expands further.”
