Representatives from the Wolves’ Former Players Association have handed over donations to two influential local charities following this year’s Annual Dinner.

Cheques for £1,000 each have been distributed to Compton Care and the Good Shepherd thanks to proceeds raised at the annual event, which took place back in April.

Former Wolves stars Steve Daley, Phil Parkes and Geoff Palmer were joined by WFPA Administrator Richard Green in visiting the two charities to make the presentations.

“We would like to thank everyone who supported this year’s Annual Dinner, which has helped us make these two donations,” says Green.

“Compton Care and the Good Shepherd are two fantastic charities which are having a really positive impact on the people of Wolverhampton with their respective work.

“We are really pleased that we have been able to support them as we continue our aims of the former players making a difference in the local community.”

Several former players had previously enjoyed a tour of Compton Care’s facilities from Community Fundraiser Vicki Wootton, and they have also now learned more about the activities of the Good Shepherd – set to move near Molineux later this year – by meeting volunteers and people using the dining service.

The FPA had also supported the Good Shepherd last Christmas with a donation of food and toiletries, handed over by former players Karl Henry and Kevin Foley.

The Annual Golf Day takes place at Oxley Park in September when several more charities will be supported.
